Foggy
The fog is thick outside. It seems there is a visibility of about 50 meters. The weather is chilly. Today is the type of day where I need to be sitting in a nice, warm corner of Starbucks with a cup of hot chocolate in hand, listening to my rainy day tunes and working on my computer.
And speaking of rainy day tunes, my list includes a host of sultry, slow melodies by various artists such as Norah Jones, Chris Isaak, KT Tungstell, John Mayer, Coldplay, James Blunt and Ray Charles. Does anyone have other suggestions? I’m open to them.
If only Starbucks had free wireless. Curse your stinginess, Starbucks. I don’t feel like going all the way out to Gloria Jean’s just because they offer free wireless. ![]()

whenever it is foggy and raining.. I hurry to pull out my playlist of Fayrooz. The voice that warms you up on cold and chilly days like these. It’s actually meant to be heard on days like these.
on another totally different note, isn’t that a railway ticket of England’s subway system (what they call underground)?? I can see their famous logo.

Now didn’t I hear somewhere that Galler has free wireless?
This is Dan Fogelberg and Twila Paris weather for me. You know I am hopelessly behind the times.
Bilal, I think it is BritRail, destination seems to be Manchester from Chester. I’ve been to Chester, it is where I had lopped off 16′ of blonde hair when I discovered Skeeter didn’t like hair so long. The things we do for love. Nope, never will forget Chester. Sorry Dave, I’ll have to post that

My sister has “work meetings” in Starbucks Swefeyyeh. She says they have free wireless, or maybe they just let her connect for free because she’s there every single day. I am not sure.
I like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin and Fairouz when it is dark and gloomy outside.

Really how could they not offer free wireless? How cheap! Another reason why I prefer Costa Coffee and Gloria Jeans…
Hal January 27th, 2008 4:12 pm
GALLER HAS FREE WIRELESS DAMMMMMMITTTTT.
Dave January 27th, 2008 4:32 pm
Chikapappi, I’m a sun person, as well. Cloudy days are only good when you can be in a warm, snug place with a good drink, a good book or a good movie. Why can’t the weather adapt to my preferences?
Bam Bam, thanks for the suggestions. I’ll check them out.
Bilal, yeah, that’s a British rail ticket. It’s not my picture. I found it on Flickr and thought it fit the mood.
Kinzi, yeah, I know about Galler. Trust me, Hala won’t let us forget it! I actually considered driving there this morning, actually. I’m not sure what time they open, though.
Tololy, I have “work meetings” in Starbucks all the time.
I’d love to relocate my office above the new Starbucks in Sweifieh. And I like Sinatra, as well, but most of his stuff is a bit too up-beat for a rainy day like today, in my opinion.
Ola, tell me about it. They’re screwing me over with their overpriced drinks and can’t even put out free wireless. Cheap skates.
Hal, what? Galler has free wireless? Why didn’t you ever tell us?

OMG Dave don’t get me started on how cheap the starbucks corporation is.
In Canada they charge either 7 dollars and hour or 14 dollars for the whole day. Are you kidding me????? I just wanna know if anyone actually uses it.
I think if they made it free they’ll have more people who will come and most probably order more coffee.
They piss me off.
I like pink floyd on rainy days but then again you might get more depressed so maybe not, hehehehe.

i think i’ve been out of jordan for too long, whats GALLER??? i am missing out on all the new places
mac January 28th, 2008 9:12 pm
starbucks? boooooooooo. ya haram! though i’m sure your options are far less limited than what we have in the pacific northwest.
and as for rainy day music: start with some Sufjan Stevens. Follow that with some Teitur or some Feist. Then you will definitely want some Jose Gonzalez. After he mellows you out perfectly, bust out some The Most Serene Republic in order to get the blood flowing a little again. Then, before you leave pay attention to some Iron and Wine. And you’ll be set. If you don’t have the ability to listen to all of them, at least listen to Sufjan, Iron and Wine and Mr. Gonzalez.
You can thank me later.

Dave, man, Galler has WIRELESS. And it works. Oh, and IT’S FREE! Might I also mention the added bonus that Hal’s lovely dad is there…
Here’s to foggy day soul searching…
