Cookie Party 2007
Yes, ladies and gents, yesterday evening a group of bloggers channeled their inner Martha Stewarts and banded together for a fantastic cookie decorating bash. The annual cookie party has traditionally been offered to women only. This year was the first time where a select group of men were invited, including yours truly. It was a historic moment, to be sure. I would have been crazy not to attend.
I won’t go to the trouble of describing the event, since I can’t do it any better than Momma Bean, Jano, Hayat, Jad or Kinzi. I will say, however, that I had a blast and loved hanging out with everyone…even Hal and her Tourettes-like outbursts (I love you, Hal).
A special thanks to Momma Bean for hosting such a great event. And I do have something that no one else seems to have as of yet: pictures!
Note: I have a private Flickr photo set with 18 photos for those of you who attended the party. Just post a comment or send me an e-mail via the contact form and I will send you access to the set.

can you remind me why we should be interested in your secret bloggers party that we were not invited to?

I’m feeling so jealous now
Bidddiiiii :’(
hatem abunimeh December 20th, 2007 6:36 pm
Dave,
I don’t want to sound like a curmudgeon party spoiler but whats with the in your face clumsy name tags, and BTW: On the very first picture Mazen & Shaden look like they weren’t wearing theirs. How come no one made gingerbread house.
Dave December 20th, 2007 6:37 pm
Hind, you don’t have to read the post and you don’t have to add sour comments.
Qwaider, I think next year it will be open to everyone.
Hatem, the name tags were a last minute idea, so we had to resort to green construction paper and safety pins.
Jano December 20th, 2007 6:53 pm
hey!
i caught you at the last sec takin that pic hehe i would have looked uglier :p
It was good to see you all, and hopefully more to come
u got my email? i’ll sent in “contact” anyway.. thx!
ziad d December 20th, 2007 7:21 pm
Did I see hairy armpits on one of those cookies or was that my imagination? Way too many characters in this party to pin point the culprit. But my guess is that it was YOU Dave had a hand in that, my second guess would have been Hala! That’s just too funny!
Glad it wasn’t anatomically correct otherwise more hairy sprinkles may have been needed! lol
El3atal December 20th, 2007 9:33 pm
Hay, what are all these people doing at my house! Sorry I was not there but I am an elusive figure.
Peace
kinzi December 20th, 2007 9:38 pm
Hind, it wasn’t a secret, people have been asking about it for months now. It almost didn’t happen, as MB and I both lost in-laws this month.
Would you send put an open invitation on your blog to your home? How in the world would we bake enough cookies to feed everyone?
I sent invites to every blogger I have email for, to everyone who was invited last year, and anyone either MB, me, or any of those I know, know personally. Sort of a ‘two degrees of separation’ set-up.
So come on over for some left-over cookies so we can get to know one another, ok?
Next year, it should be a biggee, with Gingerbread house decorating, fund raising for a charity, contests and prizes for best and most creative cookie.
kinzi December 20th, 2007 9:43 pm
Ya Hatem, so you don’t like my make-shift name tags? Hey, I can’t see as well as these young folks, I like to live and write large.
Mazz and Shad had just arrived.
NEXT year, there will be gingerbread houses! In fact, MB and I spent this evening planning next years event, see my response to Hind above for details. I think we could use you on the steering committee…wanna help?
Ziad, it took me 3 looks to get what that was!! YES, there was a recent post on the blogs about that area of anatomy…maybe some hints there.
hatem abunimeh December 20th, 2007 10:51 pm
Kinzi,
I was only trying to put a little flavor on an otherwise boring day for me. I’m also jealous that I wasn’t there. I would love to serve on the steering committee but as you know I’m living and working in the USA and I visit Jordan about once a year for two weeks. I’m happy for you guys that you got together, I wish someday to meet you and Dave and all of the Americans living in Jordan. Please don’t read too much into my comments, I was acting fastidious but I’m not like that at all. I know how much of an effort you guys put into making something like this happen and I congratulate you for making it a success.Have a very merry Christmas and very happy new year to you and your family.
Maioush December 21st, 2007 12:31 am
looks like you guys had so much fun, that’s so cool
anon December 21st, 2007 1:59 am
Kinzi,
Can I just say What class act responses to some grinch comments. So what if others were not invited…..bloggers can’t just have small intimate gatherings with only select people? And as you say, if people feel so strongly about feelingleft out, then let them host something at their place….I am sure people would show up.
I for one am glad you all are such great friends!
Sorry Dave for using the comments as my personal soapbox.
Dave December 21st, 2007 7:01 am
Jano, you seem pretty photogenic to me, so I’m sure you would have looked great even if you hadn’t noticed me taking the picture. I’ll send you the Flickr guest pass and you can check out all the pics and see what you think.
Ziad, ah, the inside joke. Yes, several cookies ended up with hairy armpits. That cookie was created especially for Shaden, but somehow it ended up back on my plate by the end of the night.
El3atal, yeah, I was checking out the family photos on the wall and wondering where you were off to. I expected you to show up at any minute.
Kinzi, always a pleasure to get together with you. Thanks for being so graceful.
Hatem, let us know the next time you’re in town and we’ll throw together an impromptu blogger’s meet-up.
Maioush, it was fun. Thanks.
Anon, step onto that soapbox all you like.
kinzi December 21st, 2007 8:43 am
Hatem, awww, next time you are in town, as Dave said, let’s celebrate! Cookies decorating is year-round fun!
Anon, heh-heh, thanks…I’ve had a little practice on my blog. It really is great to have blog folks become real friends, and with this crowd, it is not hard at all.
kinzi December 21st, 2007 8:47 am
Dave, I for get to rejoice over your inclusion of the phrase: channeled our inner Martha Stewarts! Does that mean you’ve taken a peek at Pioneer Woman’s blog??
Dave December 21st, 2007 9:58 am
Kinzi, I’ve taken just a peek at Pioneer Woman’s blog, but that’s not where I got the line from. As far as I know, it’s a “Dave original”.
Hal December 21st, 2007 12:11 pm
I love you too Dave and I’m sorry I swore so much in front of your lovely daughter
Hehehehehe, I feel like the popular kid in school who had a blast at the party everyone was dying to get invited to and I feel like screaming IN YOUR FACE to everyone else, but I’m going to try not to :p

Shaden December 21st, 2007 5:51 pm
It was really great meeting everyone, although I didn’t get the chance to converse with everyone but it was lovely putting faces to some of the blogs. I had fun
