Wherefore Art Thou, Liquid Cautery?
I generally don’t get mouth ulcers (also known as oral ulcers or cancer sores), but the other day as I was eating, I accidentally bit down hard through the inside of my lip. (I can hear you cringing from here.) Now I have two large mouth ulcers right next to each other. My lip is all swollen and hurts like heck.
Back in the States, a doctor once gave me a bottle of liquid cautery. How it work, basically, was that at the first appearance of a mouth ulcer, you could place a single drop on the sore and it would burn the nerve endings shut. It hurt like crazy for about 60 seconds, but considering that it saved a week of future pain, it was so worth it.
Problem is that I somehow lost the medicine and I would really like to have some more. Does anyone know if such a thing is available in Jordan and, if so, what would it be called?

Can’t you just use a soldering iron?

Why don’t you have a doctor check it for you?

Also, why is there an American flag behind my head?

Qwaider, it would probably be just as easy to go down to the pharmacy and ask if they have anything similar to what I am looking for.
Bakkouz, you must be a true, blue American.
Either that or your Avatar has a transparent background in which case my American flag background is showing through.

OK, I have a home made remedy and it works , at least for me it does, put some baking soda on it and let it sit there for a minute or tow on the sores. Repeat during the day and it will go away. And it doesn’t hurt or burn a lot, just a teeny sting.
Hope it works for you, it worked really well for me, I used to get those a lot when I was younger, thanks God not any more they are a pain in the arse

You can use ‘Pyralvex’, it’s for sore gums and mouth ulcers.

There IS something here, but I can’t remember the name. I’ll ask El 3atal if he remembers, that is if you haven’t broken down and gone to the pharmacy yet. Oh, and as I recall salt is really good for that :). Talk about hurting like all get out…

Ok, finally, FINALLY, I can come to this site and actually say something useful and intelligent and of help to you…..FINALLY I don’t have to ramble my usual nonsense.
My ma is a doctor. She has saved my ass from repeated near death experiences over the past 26 years. You already KNOW I’m clumsy as hell. This means she must be really good at her job.
Also, I get those mouth ulcers ALL THE TIME. They are stress induced for me, and I stress way more than the average person, and so I have them practically permanently. Best thing is Daktarin. It’s a sweet gel thing, you place a little bit on the sore in your mouth (and with it being sweet, it kinda tastes good, not that I eat the whole thing or anything, no not at all), and it will ease the pain and help the sore to heal faster. Trust me, this is one thing I REALLY know about. Go get Daktarin NOW. It will change you life.
You can pay me for this consultation anytime. Gift certificate to Aldo please. And thank you.

I think I know what you are talking about with your cautery stuff. Something that does the same thing and that you can find just about anywhere is alum….the white stick that men (or perhaps women) use to dab on their face if they bleed after shaving. I have used this on canker sores since I was a child and it hurts like the devil the moment that you apply it and also puckers your mouth, but it does wonders for canker sores. Give it a try and let me know how it goes!
