Worthy Facebook Campaigns
I try to choose my Facebook groups very carefully, hand-picking only the freshest and most worthy causes to join. So for those who would like to make a difference in this world, perhaps this list will be right up your alley.
| Group Name | What We’re About | |
|---|---|---|
| When I was your age, Pluto was a planet | This is a group dedicated to the kids who were taught that Pluto was the 9th planet from the sun. Pluto, we salute you (February 18, 1930 - August 24, 2006)! | |
| Remove the “is” from the Facebook status (Official Facebook Petition) | For all the people tired of being constricted to the “is” in your status. You cant even put down your real current status (Dave’s ears are ringing). | |
| I secretly want to punch slow walking people in the back of the head | Either walk faster, or get off the sidewalk! If you can’t walk and talk at the same time, get off the phone. If you and your friend decide to have a conversation in the middle of the side walk, you my friend, you are retarded. Move to the side. | |
| I don’t care how comfortable Crocs are, you look like a dumbass | They’re like shoes, only…well…repulsive. | |
| People who always have to spell their names for other people | Anyone who knows my last name knows what I’m talking about. If your name has unusual spelling or pronunciation, you’re one of us. | |
| U2 to perform in JORDAN | Is there a nobler cause? |

Your campaign worked out, I joined the second and the last group you advertised.
kinzi November 7th, 2007 12:32 pm
Oh dear, lol, I should join everyone of these. Except that I have 300 various invitations, applications and and pokes that keep me from going near Facebook these days. Too.Much.Pressure.
(What is with those crocs? Kids, ok, but, SHU UGLY!! The Emporer has no clothes)
MommaBean November 7th, 2007 12:50 pm
Excellent choices, and pleasepleaseplease let U2 come to Jordan!
Bakez November 7th, 2007 12:54 pm
U2 to perform in Jordan? do you think theres even the slightest chance that such a miraculous event could ever happen?
Dave November 7th, 2007 1:10 pm
Bakez, not a chance.
kinzi November 7th, 2007 4:36 pm
Hey, I bet if HM Queen Rania asks U2 to come to Jordan, they’d be out on the next RJ flight.
Now THAT would put Jordanian bloggers on the map in Amman.
Dave November 7th, 2007 4:47 pm
Kinzi, note that Queen Rania is hanging out with Bono in the picture. Let’s just hope she reads my blog and decides to do something about this critical issue.

I sooooooooo suffer from sidewalk rage. I really really need anger managment after I walk behind a slow poke.
asoom November 7th, 2007 10:59 pm
1)When exactly is U2 performing in Jordan??????
2)I’m offended to know of your fantasized voilence towards slow-walking people, I’m a slow-walker, I can’t help it I’m aalways daydreaming LOL
3)When exactly is U2 performing in Jordan?????
4) thanks for the playlist recommendations
Dave November 7th, 2007 11:08 pm
Asoom, glad to help on the playlist recommendations. I consider myself as a bit of a music connoisseur, so there’s more where those came from.

U2 in Jordan certainly would be a worthy cause.
I have a problematic first name.
I end up getting called Honey. Women I just met decide to hug me. Wait, is that problematic ?
Bakez November 8th, 2007 4:14 pm
If U2 perform in Jordan, I will shave my head bald and change my name to Ogla.

Bakez November 8th, 2007 4:16 pm
for blank gravatars that is
Dave November 8th, 2007 4:30 pm
Olga, er, Bakez, I appreciate the tip and I am torn between directing users without a gravatar to the gravatar site or posting a link to the user’s site. Also, I am using a gravatar plug-in that doesn’t necessarily allow the changing of the URL without altering the actual PHP code.
The plug-in code looks like this:
< ?php if (function_exists('gravatar')) { gravatar_image_link(); } ?>Laylatoot November 8th, 2007 5:08 pm
That is so true. I abhor slow-walkers and think a special lane should be created, in manner of cycle tracks.
Other choicy groups include: “Why are you taking longer than a minute at this cashpoint?” and “Get Out of the Middle Lane”, though I’m not sure if that is U.K. specific.
The last two sound good enough to join right now, though!
Bakez November 8th, 2007 5:35 pm
You mean you’re using a plugin other than the “official” gravatar.com plugin?
Dave November 8th, 2007 5:55 pm
Bakez, that’s correct. I’m using the Gravatars2 plug-in, although I may switch it over to the official plug-in, especially since Automattic (creators of Wordpress) have recently acquired Gravatar.
Dave November 8th, 2007 6:13 pm
Bakez, switched over. Rest easy, dude.
Bakez November 8th, 2007 8:30 pm
perfecto :]
Nizar November 10th, 2007 3:00 pm

great stuff…here’s some others you might be interested in:
my life isn’t complete without bob barker
about the group: tv without bob just isn’t tv. and that makes my soul cry a little.
If I were an enzyme i would be DNA helicase so i could unzip your genes
about the group: i don’t really know what they’re talking about it…i just really love a great/nerdy pun.
men against man tanning
about the group: this group should be much, much bigger.
and finally…
I Find Wrestling Singlets Delightful and Enjoy Wearing Them In Social Settings
about the group: i just couldn’t resist being a part of something so asinine.
Dave November 14th, 2007 8:38 am
Mac, most of those seem very worthy. (Drew Cary is no Bob Barker replacement, that’s for sure.) That last one is a little odd.
